Session Description

Each multi-week session includes a combination of painting, drawing, print-making, sculpture, and mixed media. Our curriculum is a balance of guided instruction and open-ended projects. In addition to art children learn through creative sensory, science and outdoor activities.

At studio sprout we use non-toxic art materials. Whenever possible we use washable art products. Just to play it safe wear your play clothes for art and garden fun. Dress to make a mess and we clean it up!

While the focus is geared towards process and experimentation children inevitably make amazing art. Children are encouraged to take home what they create.

Classes run once a week for six weeks. Sign up at any point within a session as long as there is an open spot. You will only be charged a prorated fee.

Class Descriptions

18 months – 2 years old

Our curriculum for children 18 months to 2 years old focuses largely on fun, open-ended art, garden, and sensory activities. Art projects will be very hands on, exploring a variety of textures and basic tools. Projects will support our toddlers’ hand dexterity and gross motor skills. Art and garden activities will often incorporate nature or recycled materials. When the weather permits, we go outside to make art or have a playful learning experience.

Caregiver is required to accompany child.

2-4 years old

We continue to play through art with our 2 to 3 year olds but kick it up a notch with intentional exploration with color and new tools. Art projects will continue to focus largely on process. Activities will aid fine motor skill development and make use of your child’s growing ability to focus.

Our 3 to 4 years olds love to play and talk! In these classes, we will discuss our art, assigning content and investigating mood, emotion, and imagination. We continue to explore new tools and art techniques, building on any previous foundation of art experience.

Caregiver may spend time in the garden or accompany child in the studio.

4 years old and up

We continue to take our playful approach to art with our older students while encouraging them to make decisions for themselves when it comes to creating. We will introduce famous artists and explore their techniques. We will also introduce more advanced art forms like mask making, sewing, book making and weaving.

Caregiver may spend time in the garden or accompany child in the studio.
